Local youth orchestras are excellent playing grounds to develop and enhance ensemble playing. From my experiences growing up in youth orchestras, I know first hand how important it is for the budding classical musician to play in an organized group setting with their peers.Students who are taking private lessons are generally more advanced than their comrades in school, thus the school orchestra doesn’t provide enough of an “incubation” setting for the student’s orchestral abilities. They would definitely flourish in an atmosphere that challenges their growth.
Local Youth orchestras foster that.
I want to encourage students who are interested, to participate in the various student body youth orchestras in the community. I have compiled a list and linked to the different local youth orchestras to consider. You can learn more about audition requirements, dues, etc. at the various websites.
